“The Sun Don’t Shine In Your TV” at Sally Centigrade.
“The Sun Don’t Shine in Your TV,” the newest screen print exhibition from Arna Miller, is currently on view at Sally Centigrade Gallery in Denver, Colorado. Arna will be presenting new screen prints alongside, and in collaboration with, the expressionistic works of Julio Alejandro.
Blending a contemporary perspective with historical design, Arna mixes the ornate patterns and colors of early 20th century book illustrations, vintage Asian packaging, and magic show posters with words from the Finnish epic The Kalevala and Kanye West lyrics. Miller uses both traditional and contemporary techniques to depict special moments charged with magic and mystery. Her illustrations have charmed and comforted people all over the world.
Julio Alejandro lives and works in Denver, Colorado. Pulling from human anatomy to cartoon imagery, Alejandro creates drawings and paintings expressionistically, referencing histories of surrealist automatism and pop cultural détournement.The exhibition will be on view throughout December.
